This is My Story

Everyone has a story.  Funny stories, sad stories, encouraging stories, life changing stories, stories of heroism, stories about overcoming the odds, stories of great suffering, stories of great victories.  As we spend greater lengths of time in relationships, our stories even begin to intertwine.  There is nothing quite like gathering with a group of friends, church group, or sitting around the family table “remembering when.”  A story about our life is simply an account of those things we have done or experienced.  Often it is those very stories that bring us such comfort in difficult times or in times of loss.  I have witnessed countless times of great grief at funerals when those simple stories brought great comfort.  But of all of the stories and accounts of life throughout history, one story literally changed all stories.  “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Over 2, 000 years ago, Jesus lived, died, and rose again providing eternal life for all who will receive Him.  His story has changed history and countless lives.  The most important question is, “Has His Story Changed Your Life?” Most of us have heard the old story, but have you allowed Him to change you and make you a “New Creation in Christ?” As we approach Easter this year, we will be studying from God's Word about lives that have been forever changed through His story.  We will also take the opportunity to ask each of you to take a few minutes and write down your testimony, the account of your life and the encounter with God in which you received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.  We will be assembling a tool for our Church in which we will collect each written testimony for future reference and proclamation of your relationship with Christ.  For those who may find themselves struggling with recording such an experience, I would like to ask you if there has ever been a time in which you have trusted in Jesus for your Salvation?  As we make history by living everyday in 2009, may His Story forevermore change our History!
